Coat of Arms of Sokhumi State University represents European shield, divided into three segments. In the upper part of the shield, there is a golden ribbon with the words: "Cognosce Veritatem". The phrase symbolically expresses students' aspiration for gaining knowledge and cognizing the truth.

In the upper segment of the shield the Georgian National Flag is placed.

The open book on the golden background, placed in the right segment of the shield, symbolizes education.

In the left segment of the shield, on the sea-green background the symbol of Dioscuri is placed - two helmets with the stars above each. The symbol points towards the historical roots of two thousand and five hundred years old history and integrity of two sister nations - Georgia and Abkhazia.
