National Scientific Conference Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Constituent Assembly
On March 14, 2019 the National Scientific Conference dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Constituent Assembly under the direct supervision of the Rector, Professor Zurab Khonelidze was held at Sokhumi State University.
The
conference was opened by Prof. Zurab Khonelidze, who spoke about the idea of parliamentarianism in Georgia, which had already existed in
the epoch of the King Tamar and emphasized the importance of the Constituent
Assembly and Parliament in the history of the state of Georgia.
The
conference participants were welcomed by: Chairperson of the Education, Science
and Culture Committee of the Parliament of Georgia Mariam Jashi; Chairperson of
the Parliament of the Second Republic of Georgia (Supreme Council) Akaki
Asatiani; Members of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia and Head of Scientific
Research and Development Department of Sokhumi State University, Prof. Zurab
Papaskiri.
Mariam
Jashi's address to the participants was particularly exciting and warm. She talked
about the significance and role of the academic society of Georgia and Sokhumi
State University.
Scientists of
seven scientific institutes and two scientific-research centers of Georgia participated
in the work of the conference. They presented reports in the plenary session
and sectional work process.
In
connection with the 100th anniversary of the election of the Constituent
Assembly, Sokhumi State University is conducting a cycle of events, among which
the competition for student essays has already been held. Winners of the
university level were awarded with the certificates at the opening ceremony of the
conference.
