Ambassador of Lithuania: "Thank you for the cooperation and support that our embassy's initiatives and projects have received from you personally, as well as from your university and team."
Rector of Sokhumi
State University, Professor Zurab Khonelidze, received a letter from His
Excellency Giedrius Puodziunas, Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of
the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia:
Dear Mr. Rector,
As my five-year
mission as the Lithuanian Ambassador to Georgia draws to a close, I wish to
express my sincere gratitude for the honor and privilege of representing
Lithuania in this beautiful country, which has proven to be a steadfast friend
and partner.
During these
years, I have witnessed with pleasure the significant strides Georgia has taken
towards its European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. Notably, the recent
achievement of visa-free travel for Georgian citizens in the Schengen area is a
commendable milestone. Lithuania has consistently stood as a strong supporter
of Georgia's integration into the European Union and NATO, utilizing its voice
and capabilities in advocating for Georgia wherever possible.
I extend my
heartfelt appreciation for the cooperation and support that our embassy's
initiatives and projects have received from you personally, as well as from
your university and team. Our collaboration has been both important and
fruitful. I particularly value your active participation in the celebration of
the 30th anniversary of the Baltic Road. The positive feedback we received from
all Baltic regions and our Georgian friends in the days and weeks following the
celebration attests to the significance of your efforts and commitment, for
which I am truly grateful.
Originally, my
farewell plans included a gathering of colleagues, partners, friends, and
extraordinary individuals with whom I have worked in Georgia over these five
years. Unfortunately, the current situation has necessitated a change in these
plans, and my farewell communication will have to be limited to correspondence.
The health and well-being of my friends and partners take precedence.
As I depart
Georgia, I am optimistic about its future. Having traversed this small yet
beautiful country, experienced its people's warmth, hospitality, and outlook on
life, I am confident that the shared values between Georgians and other
European nations will guide them toward their desired goals.
I remain a friend
of Georgia and yours, irrespective of my official title.
Best regards,
Giedrius
Puodziunas

Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary
